“From field research, a new line of “resilient” potatoes that adapts to climate change and resists disease without chemical residues. For an agriculture that is increasingly respectful of the soil and the environment”.
It is with this motivation that Emilia Romagna Region has awarded the special mention to the potato “Residuo Zero”, project by Romagnoli F.lli Spa, as a part of the sixth edition of the Responsible Innovation Award, an initiative with which projects that contribute to the implementation of the seventeen objectives of the 2030’s Agenda for sustainable development.
“This mention makes us proud because it recognizes the promotion of a responsible agricultural model, which combines economic, environmental and social sustainability”- comments Giulio Romagnoli, CEO of Romagnoli F.lli Spa.
Thanks to a research path carried out with the scientific guidance of the Department for Innovation in Biological, Agri-food and Forestry Systems (DIBAF) of the University of Tuscia and together with Legambiente, the company has obtained a new generation of potato varieties resistant to late blight, the main fungal disease affecting the crop.
