In a bid to promote sustainable agricultural practices, we recently orchestrated a field exposure visit to highlight the outcomes of “Zero Tillage Potato Production through Rice Straw Mulch (PZTM)” in Nalanda district. This innovative climate-smart technology not only mitigates rice straw burning but also optimizes its utilization, presenting a win-win solution for farmers and the environment alike.
Attended by approximately 150 farmers, predominantly women, the event provided a firsthand glimpse into the potential of zero tillage potato production. Esteemed senior scientists from CIP including Marcel Gatto, David Ramirez Collantes, Jan Kreuze, along with representatives from GIZ like Isma Virk, graced the occasion, emphasizing the importance of embracing sustainable agricultural practices.
The remarkable bumper yield witnessed in farmers’ fields serves as a compelling testament to the effectiveness of this approach.
