According to the regional Ministry of Agriculture, 28.6 thousand tons of high-reproduction seed potatoes have been produced in the region this season. We are talking about varieties of domestic and foreign breeding. At the same time, potato growers bought only one percent of the total crop seeds outside the country.
Thanks to the policy of import substitution, Novgorodians reduce their dependence on foreign seed supplies. Local producers increase the competitiveness of their products year after year. The seed material grown in the region is of high quality. The demand for this product from farmers is constantly growing.
Since 2019, a regional state support program has been operating in the Novgorod region, providing for the payment of subsidies for the production of mini potato tubers. In 2024, its size amounted to seven million rubles.
