Head of the Department of Land Policy and Inspection of the Ministry of Agriculture Tursunbek Kubanychbekov explained what problem the new Land Code of the Kyrgyz Republic should solve first of all.
In Kyrgyzstan, according to the instructions of President Sadyr Japarov, groups have been created to develop new editions of the Land and Water Codes.
In a conversation on radio Sputnik Kyrgyzstan, Kubanychbekov noted that the Land Code of the Kyrgyz Republic “does not keep pace with the development of the country,” therefore, it is constantly being amended.
“Land resources are the property of our citizens. Now there are 19 million land plots in the country. Recently, the trend of transforming agricultural land and their further seizure for the construction of housing and business facilities has intensified. At this rate, there will simply be no agricultural land left for future generations. This poses a direct threat to the food security of the country. The new code is now addressing the issue of restrictions on land transformation. There is a moratorium on the transformation of 2009, but it was made 13 changes, which left this moratorium only a name.It describes a ban on the transformation irrigated arable land, but besides this type of farmland, there are many others,” the expert emphasized.
He clarified that the new code should describe all types of agricultural land and prohibit their transformation.
