UAE Launches “Plant the Emirates” Initiative to Enhance Agricultural Sector and Food Security

National Program Aims to Promote Sustainable Agriculture, Strengthen Food Security, and Build Private Sector Partnerships

In an important move to strengthen the agricultural sector, the United Arab Emirates has launched the “Plant the Emirates” initiative. Announced by Mohammad Alam Shah during a special cabinet meeting at Marmom farms, the program is designed to invigorate agriculture in the UAE while continuing the legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the country’s founding father. This national initiative emphasizes the importance of agriculture for the UAE’s future sustainability, food security, and environmental stewardship.

The “Plant the Emirates” program aims to integrate agricultural practices into daily life, with a focus on educating younger generations. The initiative plans to spread agricultural awareness in schools and homes, encouraging students and families to engage in farming activities that will contribute to the nation’s food security.

At the heart of this program is the newly established National Agricultural Center. This institution will lead the charge in developing the agricultural sector by offering technical and scientific support, facilitating new partnerships with the private sector, and fostering innovation. The National Agricultural Center will be responsible for launching initiatives that promote sustainable farming techniques, increasing the green areas across the country, and ensuring long-term environmental sustainability.

In addition to addressing food security, “Plant the Emirates” seeks to develop advanced agricultural techniques and promote the widespread adoption of these methods. By building stronger collaborations between public and private sector stakeholders, the program also aims to boost the UAE’s agricultural production capabilities, making the nation more self-sufficient in food production.

The cabinet emphasized that agriculture is not only a guarantee of food security but also a symbol of sustainability and longevity. The soil and land of the UAE, cherished for its potential, can be transformed through collective efforts under this program. The government has invited all sectors of society to contribute through ideas, projects, and initiatives that promote agricultural development. By encouraging the population to plant seeds today, the country is laying the foundation for future generations to thrive.

Through this comprehensive national program, the UAE is setting itself on a course toward a greener and more sustainable future. The country’s leadership is confident that with community engagement, technological innovation, and strategic partnerships, the agricultural sector will flourish, ensuring a reliable food supply for years to come.
