Following the hiatus due to the pandemic, the DLG (German Agricultural Society) is relaunching three international trade shows for potato production and processing over the next few months. Potato Days Turkey will kick things off from 18 to 20 August 2021, followed by the Ukrainian Potato Day, taking place from 26 to 27 August. Additionally, PotatoEurope Netherlands will open its doors in Lelystad on 1 and 2 September. Organized by DLG International and its partners, the three open-air exhibitions will once again be offering the international potato industry sector-leading business and information platforms in their regions, as well as the restart itself being an important signal for the trade show industry globally.
“With our forthcoming trade fairs for potato production and processing, potato professionals will once again be able to take advantage of the platforms that were sorely missed and which are so important to personal and professional interexchange regarding all aspects of modern potato production and processing. The focus will be on breeding, fertilization, crop protection, technology for production as well as processing and trade. Trial plots, machinery demonstrations and information events complement the professional presentations of our exhibitors,” says Bernd Koch, Managing Director of DLG International, underlining the significance of the three trade fairs. “After many months without face-to-face exchanges, the re-start of our specialist events provides the impetus that has been missed by all and convinces with its added value for the industry,” he added.
Potato Days Turkey: the only trade exhibition for potato cultivation in Turkey
As the only trade fair for potato cultivation in Turkey, Potato Days Turkey, which takes place 18-20 August 2021, will present current strategies and solutions for production and processing in the region. The trade fair in Konya / Selçuklu / Karaömerler, organized by DLG International subsidiary “DLG Fuarcilik”, will host the event on 8 hectares, tailored to the region’s requirements, with machinery demonstrations, field trial plots, and the latest innovations in seeds, fertilizers, crop protection, machinery and implements.
Ukrainian Potato Day with new “Irrigation Show & Conference”
The “Ukrainian Potato Day” will take place on 26-27 August 2021 in Chulakivka, Kherson region, southern Ukraine. Organized by the Ukrainian Association of Potato Producers and the DLG International subsidiary “DLG Ukraine”, the Ukrainian Potato Day is the only specialized event for potato cultivation in Ukraine. With trial plots and an exhibition area of 20 hectares featuring more than 60 potato varieties from leading national and international breeders, as well as innovative cultivation concepts and live machinery demonstrations, this year’s Ukrainian Potato Day will be the leading business platform for farmers, as well as experts from science and industry, food processors and trade.
With the addition of the new “Irrigation Show & Conference”, the event has been expanded and now runs over two days, instead of one.The new irrigation event, organized with the Ukrainian Potato Growers Association, focuses on irrigation methods and strategies for farmers in the wake of recent droughts.
PotatoEurope Netherlands: Field work in full swing
This year, PotatoEurope will be held in the Netherlands on 1-2 September. The venue is Wageningen University & Research (WUR) Field Crops in Lelystad. The field work, which constitutes a major part of the outdoor exhibition, is already in full swing. The Dutch subsidiary of DLG International “DLG BENELUX”, the organizer of this event, is expecting around 275 exhibitors and 16,000 visitors. PotatoEurope is an international series of events for the entire potato value chain. The event takes place annually, alternating between the four partner countries Germany, Belgium, France and the Netherlands.
