In Novosibirsk, a seminar was held on the topic “Application of ultra-low-volume spraying from UAVs (agrodrones): advantages and prospects.” Among the speakers was the deputy head of the Novosibirsk branch Volokitin V.V. with the topic of the report “Consumption rate of pesticides when applied from a UAV. Methods for controlling the introduction of pesticides,” the press service of the Rosselkhoztsentr reported.
The introduction of pesticides from UAVs refers to aerial treatments, respectively, and the requirements of the legislation are increased.
The drugs used must be registered for use by air, in 2022, according to our branch, 555 drugs (commercial names) were used in the Novosibirsk region, of which less than 30 are allowed for aviation treatments. This, of course, narrows the scope of the UAV, however, with an increase in such methods of pesticide application, registrants of preparations will pay attention and the range of permitted preparations will be expanded.
Traditional aerial processing in the Novosibirsk region has not been used since 2015, this is due to the difficulties in organizing such work, high cost, little suitability of most agricultural land for aerial processing due to the small size and complex contour of the fields, and with the use of UAVs, a number of problems become irrelevant .
Any pesticide applied by various application methods poses a potential threat of product and soil contamination, and the ULV method with UAV is no exception. The key to avoiding such risks is the strict observance of the regulations for the use of pesticides. After harvesting, the testing laboratory of the Branch provides services for determining the residual amount of pesticides (RCR) in the grown products for the most part of 124 pieces of active ingredients used in 2022 on the territory of the Novosibirsk Region, in addition, our branch provides assistance in registering declarations in accordance with requirements of TR/TS 015/2011.
Like any innovation, the use of UAVs in agriculture encounters many difficulties, both legislative and technical in nature, all these problems were discussed during the seminar. So far, in small volumes, but the ULV method with UAVs is gradually occupying its niche in the line of methods for applying plant protection products in the Siberian Federal District. And in our opinion, this method certainly has prospects.
