Governor Alexander Burkov said that in 2022, more than 2.7 million hectares of spring crops were sown (41,000 hectares more than in 2021). Grain and leguminous crops – more than 1.9 million hectares (more by 11.8 thousand hectares), oilseeds – 468.6 thousand (more by 33.8 thousand hectares). The farmers also planted 20.9 thousand hectares of potatoes (1.1 thousand hectares more), and 5.1 thousand hectares of beets, garlic, onions, cabbage and carrots (705.2 hectares more).
“In addition to sowing, farmers apply mineral fertilizers. Now 43.9 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers have been applied on an area of 1.1 million hectares, which is 2.6 thousand tons more than in 2021. Judging by the reports, the region will not be left without bread and borscht,” Burkov said.
