The sowing campaign continues in Chuvashia. More than 200 thousand hectares of land have been sown with spring crops. Such data are published by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic.
According to operational information, 206.5 thousand hectares of spring grain and leguminous crops were sown in the farms of Chuvashia (in 2021 – 206.3 thousand hectares), which is 97.6% of the plan (in 2020 – 103%). The sowing plan was completed by six districts.
Potato planting was carried out on an area of 3.4 thousand hectares (in 2021 – 4.5 thousand hectares), or 61.7% of the plan (in 2020 – 81%). Four districts have completed the plan to plant the second “bread”.
Open ground vegetables were sown on 522 hectares (in 2021 – 636 hectares), or 62.2% of the sowing plan (in 2020 – 70.7%), 27.5 thousand hectares are occupied by industrial crops (in 2021 – 18 .7 thousand ha). Including rapeseed is sown on an area of 10.5 thousand hectares, mustard and sunflower grow on an area of 5.8 thousand hectares and 5.1 thousand hectares, respectively.
Hops were planted on an area of 117 hectares (in 2021 – 100 hectares).
According to the agricultural department, in Chuvashia the plan for planting sugar beets has been exceeded: it occupies 840 hectares (in 2021 – 652 hectares), which is 20% of the plan.
As REGNUM reported, in March 2022, the Minister of Agriculture of Chuvashia, Sergey Artamonov, stated that 17,000 hectares of land remained uncultivated, while farmers needed 60,000 hectares of land. According to him, the local tillers “do not have enough land catastrophically.”
