According to the head of the Moldovan Ministry of Agriculture, the state of the country’s agricultural sector is connected with an emergency situation in the field of the environment.
The Moldovan government plans to introduce a state of emergency not in agriculture, but in the field of the environment. The reason is the ongoing hydrological drought. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic Vladimir Bolya.
“On Wednesday, at a government meeting, a decision will be made on the emergency situation due to hydrological drought,” Bolya said in an interview with one of the local media.
According to him, the situation in the agricultural sector arose as a result of an emergency in the field of the environment.
He said that at the next meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations, it is planned to propose derogating from water legislation and allowing economic entities to have much easier access to water from ponds.
According to the data of the State Hydrometeorological Service of Moldova, until August 5, the low water level will remain on the rivers (with the exception of some tributaries of the left course of the Dniester) and will be: on the Dniester – 35-50% of the average monthly long-term values (“yellow code”); on the Prut River – 15-30% (orange code); on small rivers – 10-20% (“orange code”), and on some small rivers – 0-10% of the monthly average multi-year values (“red code”).
“As a result of recent surveys, water is still missing in certain sections of the rivers Kaldarusha, Deliya, Nyrnova, Sarata, Tigech, Maly Chuluk, Solonets, Kula, Kushmirka, Bykovets, Lunga, Lungutsa, Bolshaya Salcha, Cahul,” the State Hydrometeorological services.
