Few products have overcome so many barriers. But realizing that it is still not poisonous, the Russians began to eat potatoes. And since then they can’t stop.
In the markets today you can easily find the first local farm potatoes. The seller from the village of Lgovo sold out the goods before the others. Potatoes, he says, are small, it makes no sense to keep the price. Explains that there was too little rain.
But this year the Ryazan region will definitely not be left without potatoes, it is not for nothing that the region is a zone of risky farming. Domestic seed growers began to engage in import substitution back in 2015, when they realized that European varieties did not meet their declared characteristics. Therefore, most potatoes today are from domestic seeds.
Harvesting and fertilizing equipment is in stock, so this summer season in Russia, large farmers are finishing in the black – the expected harvest is 7.5 million tons. Almost the same amount will be collected from personal plots. This will provide the country with the third position in the world in terms of gross harvest, the Russian Potato Union says. Therefore, during the season, Ryazan small shops prefer to work with a domestic product.

At the same time, prices in stores today are an order of magnitude lower than in the market. The fact is that the harvest in the southern regions of the country is almost completed, the prices for the product are minimal. In the Ryazan region, potato harvesting has just begun, in the Kasimovsky district, early varieties are harvested.
In general, the harvesting will last until October in the region, which means that in autumn the prices for potatoes, as expected, will go down even more, and in all sectors of trade.
