The expert told how to provide the Kirov region with its potatoes, beets and corn

For this, it is impossible to spare funds to support farmers, and it is worth combining science with practice. There are opportunities for growing these crops in the region. This opinion was expressed in a comment to kirovpravda.ru by the Director General of the Vyatkaplem Association of Agricultural Cooperatives Faat Khairullin.
The publication refers to the containment of food prices. Steps are being worked out at the federal level to solve the problem. In particular, a federal project for the development of potato and vegetable growing, which provides for subsidies for its participants, is currently being coordinated. We recall that they plan to provide financial assistance from federal funds in the form of transfers to the regions.

Faat Khairullin believes that additional allocation of funds to farmers will help curb price increases. At the same time, he added that comprehensive measures are needed.

“What is the price? This is the cost of everything that is required for production. In agriculture, these are seeds, machinery, herbicides, fertilizers, fuel, and electricity. All of this has gone up in price. To contain prices, subsidies, subsidies, soft loans are needed. The budget for rural support in our region is 2 billion rubles a year. There are subsidies to keep prices down: for bakers, for the first quarter will soon be paid to dairymen. I think that support should be increased, and in the future, a whole program for the development of rural areas should be created,” says Khairullin.

Commenting on the situation with the provision of the region with potatoes, and at affordable prices, the expert said about the need to involve science.

“We have our own potatoes, but their yields are lower than the Dutch ones we bought. It takes 5 years to develop a new variety. I believe that there is no need to spare money, and it is worthwhile to combine science with practice as soon as possible. The same for sugar beets and corn,” Faat Khairullin commented, adding that “we have all the possibilities for this.”
