Dagestan is a zone of risky agriculture due to low moisture supply, and in this regard, the largest irrigated fund in the Russian Federation is concentrated here, which is almost 400 thousand hectares of agricultural land. Therefore, much attention is paid to the development of land reclamation, construction of new and reconstruction of existing land reclamation networks.
According to Sharip Sharipov, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan, this year our republic has taken on serious obligations as part of the federal target program for the effective involvement of agricultural land in circulation and the development of melioration. Thus, this year the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia selected 24 RD projects for the construction and reconstruction of on-farm reclamation systems on an area of 3,602 hectares, including sprinkling and drip irrigation. This is a multiple of what it was last year. The farms of ten districts participate in the projects, the most active are the Kizlyar and Tarumovsky districts. The issue of their implementation was discussed on January 17 at a meeting in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan, with the heads of farms – participants in irrigation and drainage projects under the leadership of First Deputy Minister Sharip Sharipov.
At the meeting, the relevance of high-quality performance of work in accordance with the projects was noted, most of the program participants have rich experience in their implementation. The task was set to complete the project activities in a timely manner. And those business executives who have already completed the work can apply for subsidies. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan this year decided to finance completed projects in February so that the farms have working capital for spring field work.
“In 2017-2022, 10 thousand new rice engineering systems were built in Dagestan, almost 21 thousand hectares were reconstructed. This is one of the best indicators in the whole country. Many thanks to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation for the full support of the projects and proposals of the republic in terms of the development of the reclamation complex. Such work to support hydromelioration turns into concrete results. In Dagestan, 138.5 thousand tons of rice were harvested last year, which is almost 16% more than the previous year. They also harvested more grapes, vegetables and other agricultural products directly related to improving the water supply of agricultural land as part of participation in the federal program for the development of land reclamation. The Republic intends to continue to actively participate in this program, which allows increasing agricultural production and working to ensure food security,” Sharip Sharipov said at the end of the event.
