Having as an inspiration the Japanese cuisine, PepsiCo has added a new BBQ Beef Teriyaki variety to its Walkers Sensations premium chips range.
The new flavor is well-positioned to accommodate shoppers’ demands for BBQ flavors, which are currently the fastest-growing flavor profile in the salty sharing segment, with 37% growth, according to the company.
BBQ Beef Teriyaki should be found already in grocery and symbol convenience stores across the UK starting from mid-September.
According to Kate Prescott, marketing manager for Sensations UK, cited by Kamcity and Better Retailing, 54% of Brits say that they like to experiment with new food, and the new addition to the Walkers Sensations range will support the savory snacks category.
“Japanese cuisine is a popular consumer trend in the UK, as it scores impressively amongst food fans for its complex flavors and broad appeal. As consumers continue to demand distinctive flavors, reminding them of authentic tastes and cultures from abroad, the new flavor provides the perfect snack to make big nights in and sharing occasions with friends even more special,” Prescott added.
