On the afternoon of February 24th, the People’s Committee of Nga Son Commune, in collaboration with VietTrans Logistics Joint Stock Company, held a review meeting to assess the results of their linked production and consumption model for processing potatoes for the 2025 winter-spring crop. The meeting was attended by Le Van Tien, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, along with local officials, representatives of the Nga Trung Agricultural Cooperative, and the farmers involved in growing the FL2215 potato variety. The initiative, first launched in the 2024 winter-spring crop on a modest 2.4-hectare pilot area, has proven highly effective, leading to its expansion to 19.2 hectares across five hamlets for the 2025 season.
The results demonstrate the model’s strong performance, achieving an average yield of 28 tons per hectare. The company guarantees a purchase price of 7,800 VND per kilogram, providing farmers with a stable income of approximately 120 million VND per hectare after expenses. A key factor in the program’s success is the immediate payment upon purchase, which allows farmers to quickly reinvest in the next production cycle. Building on these positive outcomes, the partners have already outlined plans for a significant expansion. For the 2026 winter-spring crop, the linked production model is expected to be extended to an additional 60-80 hectares within the area managed by the Nga Trung Agricultural Cooperative.
