Peasant farming “Slavyanskoye”, which is run by individual entrepreneur Gennady Poplavsky, has started digging potatoes. Gennady Iosifovich, a vegetable grower with great experience, knows that it is practically impossible to grow this crop on an industrial scale without reclamation facilities on the territory of the Prokhorovsky district. Therefore, he has land reclamation, and modern potato harvesting equipment, and sorting lines, and good varietal potatoes, and proper care for him on the farm.
Gennady Poplavsky said that for harvesting potatoes, which were planted on an area of 70 hectares, modern equipment from Grimme is used. The harvested seed culture is stored in a cold store, the rest of the tubers are stored in a semi-basement warehouse. In addition to potatoes, another vegetable crop has been planted – cabbage of the Aggressor variety grows on 10 hectares of fields.
“Several varieties of potatoes were planted in the fields: Colombo – elite, Gala – elite, Prime – elite and Impala – the first reproduction. We leave the Gala variety for the seed fund, – said Sergey Gaplikov, chief agronomist of the Slavyanskoye farm.
A team of six people under the leadership of Sergei Ostapenko is working on harvesting potatoes in the field. The yield of potatoes is about 500 c/ha. This indicator exceeds the result of the previous year twice. It has increased due to excellent climatic conditions, timely watering and acquired hybrid varieties of potatoes.
