A special variety of seed potatoes for fast food restaurants will be grown in the Kotlas district. Here are the most suitable climatic conditions for obtaining healthy seeds. Previously, seeds were imported from abroad, but now, due to sanctions, this is impossible.

For the famous French fries, only varieties with a low sugar content and a high starch content are used. This makes it crispy and crispy.

2 grades are involved in the work at the Kotlas station. The resulting seeds are planned to be planted in the Voronezh region next year. Domestic potatoes will replace imported semi-finished products that were previously used by fast food enterprises. Under the sanctions, supplies stopped.

“We received about 112 tons. We agreed that we would propagate about 600 tons of seed potatoes somewhere. To date, they have been tested. No diseases have been found in the potatoes. The potatoes comply with GOST.”
In total, there are 4 seed plots in the region. Breeders are faced with the task of updating the seed fund of potatoes. Now there are 169 samples in the bank of so-called healthy varieties.

“Traditionally, the Kotlas branch, as well as the Kholmogory branch, are considered one of the most prepared for growing seed material. We do not have the Colorado potato beetle, we do not have many diseases. That is, we are a clean region for growing potato seed material.”
Sending potatoes to the Voronezh region is scheduled for the end of October. Seeds that do not fit the customer’s standards will be put up for sale. Everyone will be able to purchase and grow an elite variety of potatoes on their plot, just like in a restaurant.
