Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev made a working visit to the Sultanate of Oman, where he held talks on the development of cooperation in the field of agriculture with the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources of Oman Saud Hamoud Al-Khabsi.
Agricultural products occupy a significant place in the trade and economic relations of our countries. The volume of mutual trade in agricultural products shows a positive trend.
Dmitry Patrushev noted that traditionally the basis of trade turnover is the export of Russian products to Oman. For 11 months of this year, it has grown 3 times. As part of the work to expand bilateral cooperation, it was possible to significantly increase the supply of wheat and confectionery, and the supply of barley also began.
At the same time, according to the Minister, the potential for developing mutually beneficial partnerships in the agricultural sector has not been exhausted, and our country is interested in expanding the presence of its products on the Omani market. A promising direction is to increase the supply of meat products. The competent authorities of Oman have already agreed on the relevant certificates, and at the moment, domestic enterprises are being inspected for their certification.
Dmitry Patrushev expressed confidence that mutually beneficial relations in the field of agriculture between Russia and Oman will continue to develop intensively. This will help strengthen trade and economic ties between our countries, as well as enhance their food security. In particular, the participation of the Russian delegation in the 4th International Agricultural Exhibition “Oman Agrofood”, which took place last week, and the holding of a business mission of domestic food exporters within its framework, will give an impetus to cooperation.
