More than a dozen small rivers in Moldova dried up due to intense heat and lack of precipitation, the Hydrometeorological Service of Moldova said on July 25, according to Arguments and Facts in Moldova.
The most affected by the drought are small rivers, whose water content is from 0% to 10%.
The channel completely dried up near the rivers Bykovets, Delia, Lunguts, Lunga, Nyrnova, Cahul, Kushmirka, Kula, Kogylnik (a tributary of the Reut River), Salchia Mare, Solonets, Sarata and Tigech.
The water content of the Prut River is 15-30% of the average long-term values. At the Dniester the situation is better, but also at the limit, the river’s water content is 30-40% of the average long-term values.
