Princesa Amandine®: A Success Story in Iberian Potato Farming – Growth, Quality, and Expansion

Since its launch in the Iberian market in 2020, Princesa Amandine® has seen exceptional growth, increasing its sales volume fivefold—from 1,500 tons to 7,000 tons in just four years. The brand aims to sustain this level in 2025, reinforcing its position as a leading premium potato variety in Spain and Portugal.

The cultivation area has also expanded significantly, from 40 hectares in 2020 to 150 hectares in 2025, demonstrating a strong commitment to local and sustainable farming. This growth is supported by a strategic alliance between Udapa and Ibérica de Patatas Campotec, with key production zones in Seville, Murcia, Valladolid, Álava (Spain), and Silveira Torres Vedras (Portugal).

Strong Retail Presence and Consumer Demand

Princesa Amandine® has secured a solid position in the retail sector, now available in 15 distribution groups and 19 supermarket chains, including major players like Carrefour, Lidl, El Corte Inglés, and Amazon Fresh. According to Jean Michel Beranger, General Director of Princesa Amandine®, the brand now represents 3-5% of the fresh potato market share in value, and in some cases, even exceeds 10% where retailers strongly support the brand.

“We have listened to consumers and adapted to market demands, exceeding our expectations. The retail sector has been key to our success, and we are now present in 19 distribution chains across the Iberian Peninsula.” – Jean Michel Beranger

Focus on Fresh, Local, and Sustainable Production

A major highlight for 2025 is the May launch of new-season potatoes, grown in Spain and Portugal, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to local sourcing and sustainability. This early-season potato maintains the same premium qualities—fine texture, mild flavor, and delicate skin—that have made Princesa Amandine® a favorite among discerning consumers.

International Expansion: Entering the Belgian Market

Building on its Iberian success, Princesa Amandine® is expanding into Belgium in 2025, responding to growing European demand for high-quality, traceable, and gourmet potato varieties.

“Our international strategy is driven by the maturity of our Iberian model and the rising demand for unique, year-round potato varieties. European consumers increasingly value origin, traceability, and gourmet experiences.” – Beranger

A Model of Agricultural Success

Princesa Amandine® demonstrates how strategic partnerships, consumer-focused quality, and retail collaboration can drive remarkable growth in the agricultural sector. With expanding production, strong retail penetration, and international ambitions, the brand is set to remain a key player in the premium potato market.
