POTATOES NEWS and the International Potato Tour Welcome Regional Partner in Pakistan — Green Perfect Plant (GPP)

POTATOES NEWS and the International Potato Tour are proud to announce a strategic regional partnership with Green Perfect Plant (GPP) in Pakistan. This collaboration marks an important milestone in our mission to connect global potato industry leaders with innovative local enterprises committed to agricultural excellence.

About Green Perfect Plant (GPP)

Founded in 2020 by a consortium of experienced family businesses, GPP has quickly become a pioneer in Pakistan’s potato sector. Operating from its advanced Tissue Culture Laboratory in Pakpattan, the company specializes in producing disease-free, high-quality seed potatoes, setting new standards for the local industry.

More information about the company is available at www.greenperfectplant.com.

GPP is dedicated to transforming Pakistan’s potato sector through:

  • Advanced Technology – Using rigorous ELISA testing and meristem collection to ensure virus-free planting stock.
  • International Collaboration – Partnering with Sarpo, a renowned British seed potato company, to multiply and produce a diverse range of high-performance varieties locally.
  • Supporting Small-Scale Farmers – Making high-quality seeds affordable to boost productivity and profitability for small landholders.

Pakistan: A Growing Hub for Potato Innovation

Potatoes are Pakistan’s third most important cash crop, cultivated across approximately 300,000 hectares, and play a crucial role in the country’s food security and economy. GPP’s vision aligns perfectly with the objectives of the International Potato Tour: reducing dependence on imported seeds, enhancing domestic self-sufficiency, and generating exportable surpluses.

By supplying pre-basic, virus-free seed potatoes, GPP helps close the gap in seed quality that has historically limited the region’s potato production. This partnership also enables the International Potato Tour to gain deeper insights into the South Asian market and its unique challenges and opportunities.

Appreciation and Future Outlook

The editorial team of POTATOES NEWS and the International Potato Tour expresses sincere gratitude to Green Perfect Plant for their commitment to innovation and openness to international collaboration.

Through the exchange of expertise and capacity-building initiatives such as training workshops, GPP is empowering local farmers while reinforcing the global potato network. We are confident that this partnership will support sustainable growth and foster a more resilient potato industry in Pakistan.
