Polish potato processor MK Agro has successfully expanded its production capabilities and enhanced product consistency by investing in state-of-the-art peeling technology from Forsfood Oy, a Finnish food processing equipment provider. The project, initiated in spring 2025, aimed to broaden MK Agro’s product portfolio to include uncooked potatoes for the local Polish market, requiring high-volume processing solutions that maintain consistent quality and cost efficiency. After a thorough evaluation, MK Agro selected Forsfood as its technology partner, impressed by the ability to combine industrial-scale capacity with gentle product handling, low water consumption, and minimal raw material losses. The long-standing collaboration between Forsfood and its Polish distributor, F.H. Najbar, was an additional deciding factor, ensuring fast, local technical support and long-term operational confidence for MK Agro.
During implementation, Forsfood identified an opportunity to further improve product quality by addressing a common challenge in steam peeling: the need for an efficient re-peeling step to handle partially peeled potatoes. Forsfood supplied and installed its Aurora Borealis USVA rollerknife re-peeling machine, along with process design expertise. The system has since performed reliably, delivering more consistent product quality and improved overall efficiency. Building on this success, Forsfood will supply components for a complete potato peeling line in January, enabling MK Agro to offer peeled, cut, and vacuum-packed potatoes to the local market. The rollerknife technology offers key benefits including low water use, gentle processing, low maintenance, and high capacity, making it ideal for modern, sustainable potato processing operations.
