PepsiCo Opens Raw Materials Warehouse in Novosibirsk

A warehouse for raw materials worth USD30m, located in the Industrial and Logistics Park of the Novosibirsk region, has been built and put into operation by PepsiCo.

The new storage facility will ensure the operation of the company’s future plant of salty snacks. Modern storage technologies cut down potato losses by 3-7%, the company’s press service told TASS recently, cited also by Upakovano.ru.

“The new warehouse for raw materials worth about USD30m in investments meets all requirements to energy and resource conservation. It features container storage technologies, which help reduce potato losses by 3-7% compared to traditional storage. All processes at the warehouse are automated; walls and roofs have enhanced thermal insulation to cut down heat loss,” the message says.

Plant of Salty Snacks

According to PepsiCo’s president in Russia and the CIS, David Manzini, the plant for salty snacks, which is still under construction, will create more than 300 jobs by the end of the year, including vacancies for workers and technical specialists.

To provide the future plant with high-quality potatoes, this year the company invested about USD1.8m in the purchase of agricultural equipment for partners. At this moment, 20 farms in Siberia are ready to supply potatoes for PepsiCo’s products. Through a supplier development program in the region, the company plans to purchase 25,000 tons of potatoes of selected varieties from local agricultural producers.

The construction of a plant of salty snacks in the Industrial and Logistics Park (PLP) near Novosibirsk began in September 2020. The first two lines will be commissioned in late 2021.
