A Cooperative Initiative Enhancing Potato Advocacy and Innovation in Finland
Europatat, the leading voice for the potato sector in Europe, recently welcomed PAYR, the Finnish Potato Sector Association, into its esteemed fold, marking a significant milestone in collaborative efforts within the industry.
Founded in 2015, PAYR emerged from the consolidation of smaller potato associations in Finland, aiming to unify the diverse stakeholders across the potato value chain. With a focus on advocacy, promotion, and research support, PAYR has swiftly become a pivotal entity within Finland’s agricultural landscape.
The association’s structure reflects its comprehensive approach to representing the sector, with a board comprising nine members representing various segments of the potato industry. From food potato production to seed potato cultivation, each category is intricately woven into PAYR’s strategic framework. Mr. Markus Jussila, a stalwart of the food potato industry, leads the board as Chairman, supported by Mr. Timo Myllymäki, representing the vital seed potato branch.
One of PAYR’s flagship initiatives is the annual Potato Winter seminar, a two-day event serving as a knowledge hub for potato professionals. Here, attendees delve into pertinent topics ranging from cutting-edge research findings to regulatory updates and technological breakthroughs.
