Seven plant production and ag machinery inventions presented – Startup Challenge part of Agritechnica on Tour series – Innovative spirit of region at the fore – Top prize – an Agritechnica stand – won by NovBiotech for invention: Stimulation of vegetative plants by laser
(DLG). The Agritechnica digital program this week stages a virtual event, celebrating the winning startup innovation and runners up of the AgTechInventum Startup Challenge, a newly launched initiative to recognise innovative concepts from the Russian-speaking region.
Taking place on 18 November 2021, 14:00 – 16:00 (CET) and held in English and Russian, the live event covers seven solutions that apply technologies, like laser or drone, to solve challenges like arctic zone seed potato cultivation or precision spreading.
“Creativity, new ideas and invention play an important role in agriculture in the Russian-speaking region. There is a tradition for drawing on the ideas of everyone involved in the farm to solve a technical problem and this creates a spirit of invention. A multitude of startup ventures each with a new practical product is the result we see in this challenge,” says Dr. Olga Hunger, Regional Director Eastern Europe, DLG (German Agricultural Society).
Over the past year, the startup challenge received some 80 qualifying entries of which 25 shortlisted candidates each pitched inventions in three sessions in front of the jury, who selected the most promising inventions. Using criteria like inventiveness and originality, the jury, AgTechInventum’s expert council, consists of companies, academics and organisations. The seven ‘best of the best projects’ from Russia and Belarus will be presented on 18 November 2021 within Agritechnica Digital.
Top prize and runners up announced last month
For its invention that uses laser to stimulate vegetative plants NovBiotech won the top prize – an Agritechnica exhibitor stand in hall 13 in the startup area “DLG-AgrifutureLab”. Experts from NovBiotech will be in Hanover on the stand 27 February – 5 March 2022.
With the aim of promoting tech innovations in agriculture, the Startup Challenge was initiated by AgTechTnventum, a non-profit association sets up by the Association of Agricultural Machinery Dealers Russian Federation (ACXOD) and VDMA Agricultural Machinery.
The interactive and lively event this week, which requires each of the seven startup to pitch its innovation one final time, is part of “Agritechnica on Tour”, a new series of virtual events, each exploring a trending farm machinery topic in a country or region.
Program on 18 November:
Under the theme ‘Innovative green technology for plant production’ the event program is organised by the DLG (German Agricultural Society), VDMA and ACXOD.
