The National Potato Festival 2024 aimed to raise awareness about the nutritional significance of potatoes and their role in food security.
The event took place on 9th-10th March at the ICAR-Central Potato Research Institute, Regional Station in Modipuram, Meerut. This vibrant event brought together farmers, researchers, entrepreneurs, and potato enthusiasts to celebrate the humble yet versatile potato and explore cutting-edge technologies in its production.
The festival aimed to promote awareness about the latest advancements in potato cultivation, processing, and utilization. The farmers were encouraged to adopt innovative potato production technologies. Detailed discussions were done about achievements in potato development in India and exploring future prospects. The festival hosted a two-day technical session covering topics such as advanced potato varieties, healthy seeds, processed products, agricultural mechanization, industry roles, and crop protection innovations.
Students demonstrated their culinary skills by preparing five categories of potato-based dishes. From classic mashed potatoes to creative potato desserts, the competition showcased the versatility of this beloved tuber.
