Mothman Style Mysterious Spice Blend Chips Now Available in Point Pleasant

The Legend Comes to Life in Taste: A New Unique Product from Mister Bee Potato Chips

West Virginians and tourists visiting Point Pleasant can now try a new, mysterious flavor – “Mothman Style Mysterious Spice Blend Chip.” These potato chips, created in honor of the legendary Mothman and the annual festival in his honor, are already on the shelves of Point Pleasant stores and will soon be available throughout the state.

Honoring Tradition and Local Legends

These chips are produced by Mister Bee Potato Chips, the only potato chip company in West Virginia. One of the co-owners, Mary Ann Ketelsen, said that the company strives not only to please customers with quality snacks, but also to preserve the cultural heritage of the state by creating exclusive flavors.

Mister Bee has previously released limited edition flavors that celebrate various aspects of West Virginia culture:

  • Chips honoring military veterans to support the USO.
  • Packaging featuring New River Gorge National Park, unveiled at Bridge Day.
  • Chips with the code “304”, symbolizing the state’s native telephone area code.
  • Pepperoni Roll flavored chips, a nod to the traditional miner’s treat.
  • Sausage and Biscuit flavor created in partnership with iconic Tudor’s Biscuit World to support Make-A-Wish West Virginia.

Mothman – Myth or Reality?

The Mothman is a legendary creature first spotted in West Virginia in 1966. It is described as a winged humanoid monster with glowing red eyes, living in the Point Pleasant area. The story began in November 1966, when two local couples reported seeing a mysterious creature in the woods near Point Pleasant. They claimed to have seen a humanoid creature with 10-foot wings and glowing eyes. These claims attracted the attention of the media, and soon the legend spread across the country.

Since then, Point Pleasant has hosted the Mothman Festival every year, attracting thousands of fans of mysticism and cryptozoology. In 2025, the event will take place on September 20 and 21, in the city center, offering guests live music, themed merchandise, food trucks, cosplay, and guest speakers.

Chips, Traditions, and Mysteries of the Future

The new product from Mister Bee is not only a tasty snack, but also an opportunity to touch the mysterious history of the region. As Mary Ann Ketelsen notes:
“What other West Virginia flavors, places, events, and traditions could we bring to life in a chip? At Mister Bee, we strive to create quality snacks, have fun, and do good for the state!”
