On Sakhalin in 2022, the sown area for potatoes was increased – up to 1922 hectares. This is 5% more than last year. According to the regional Ministry of Agriculture and Trade, 99.5% of the area allocated for cultivation has already been sown with potatoes.
The ministry said that the sowing campaign in the island region is nearing completion, the main agricultural work has already been completed.
“More than 84% of vegetable crops, primarily cabbage, are sown on the area. The sowing of late-ripening cabbage on farms continues and will end in the third decade of June,” the ministry said.
This year, the island’s agricultural producers purchased domestic elite potato seeds in advance. The Ministry of Agriculture and Trade added that Sakhalin farmers can receive compensation for the purchase and delivery of potato seeds – 30-70% of their value.
