It is necessary to concentrate efforts on interaction with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, Latin America, Africa and other states, the Russian prime minister believes.
Interest in cooperation with the EAEU is growing in the world, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at an expanded meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, Sputnik correspondent reports.
In this regard, he proposed to strengthen contacts with friends and partners from other organizations.
“First of all, with the CIS members. It is necessary to build promising cooperation with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, Latin America and Africa. Implement the entire range of agreements with China and speed up negotiations to expand trade ties with Egypt, India and Iran. Our union is aimed at a productive dialogue with leading regional associations such as the SCO and ASEAN,” Mishustin said.
According to him, such cooperation will provide significant benefits for the promotion of Eurasian goods in foreign markets and strengthen the role of the EAEU in the international arena.
He recalled that this May marked eight years since the signing of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union. And although the term for an international organization is short, during this time, the Russian prime minister added, the EAEU has proved its effectiveness and relevance.
“The trade turnover within the union is constantly growing and is outpacing trade with other states. We have good results, in particular, in industry, finance, and agriculture. But most importantly, the citizens of our countries benefit from integration work in everyday life,” – summed up the prime minister.
