According to the leading Russian online publication Potato System, McCain Foods Rus has decided to completely close the project to build a potato processing plant in the Uzlovaya Special Economic Zone in the Tula Region.
Among the reasons for stopping the project, company representatives named: uncertainty with the supply of equipment, rising costs for building materials, difficulties with inviting foreign specialists to the site.
“Combinedly, issues related to supply chain issues, funding, travel restrictions and currency fluctuations made continued construction impossible. We regret the closure of the project and undertake to fulfill all obligations under the concluded agreements,” the management of McCain Foods Rus noted in an official statement.
