Charles Dezitter, Sustainability Director of McCain Europe, has announced the remarkable progress of the company’s regenerative farming initiative in the Netherlands. Dezitter expressed pride in the achievements of the program, which aims to promote sustainable agricultural practices among potato growers.
Since its launch last year, the regenerative farming program has garnered significant interest, with 34 committed growers managing over 800 hectares of potatoes participating in its inaugural phase. Building on this success, McCain Europe plans to expand the program further in collaboration with Rabobank, aiming to double the number of participating growers in the coming year.
The overarching objective of McCain’s regenerative farming initiative is to transition all potato fields to regenerative agriculture by 2030, reflecting the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable food production.
In support of this mission, Erik Haasken, an agronomist at McCain Foods, is slated to address the benefits of regenerative soil management and share McCain’s experiences at the upcoming Nationale Bodemtop event on February 7th. Organized by the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, this event serves as a platform to discuss innovative approaches to soil conservation and agricultural sustainability.
The success of McCain Europe’s regenerative farming program underscores the company’s dedication to sustainable practices and its role as a leader in the agricultural industry. Through initiatives like these, McCain continues to demonstrate its commitment to a greener, more resilient future for farming communities worldwide.
