Alexander Lukashenko recalled that in 2021 the trade turnover with the Samara Region amounted to almost $700 million, and noted that there are prospects for the development of trade.
Belarus and the Samara region of Russia can reach a trade turnover of $1 billion, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said at a meeting with Governor of the Samara region Dmitry Azarov.
“Without going into statistics, I would like to say that there is every opportunity to reach the figure of a billion trade turnover in trade. All you need to do is to fulfill, to a point and a comma, what we previously agreed on at various levels,” his press service quotes the Belarusian leader.
The head of state stressed that relying on one’s own is “the right, perhaps the only way,” to which life itself pushes.
Alexander Lukashenko recalled that in 2021, trade with the Samara Region amounted to almost $700 million, while a 59 percent decrease was noted in the same year due to a decrease in imports of specific goods from Russia. At the same time, Belarusian exports increased by more than 20 percent compared to last year.
At the same time, Belarus is ready to increase the volume of deliveries of the most modern automotive, agricultural and road construction equipment, the president said. He also noted another promising area – logging equipment, which is in demand in the Russian Federation and the production of which is being mastered in Belarus.
“Although prices have risen this year due to reasons beyond our control, Belarus has practically not reduced the pace of imports from your region. We began to buy more sunflower oil, copper wire, bearings. But this is not a complete list of products that we could purchase from you “, added the head of state.
He expressed hope that following the visit of the Samara governor, the trade balance would be balanced, which is beneficial for everyone, Lukashenka added.
Among the promising areas are technology transfer and export of services. For example, Belarus is interested in the research of Samara scientists and experts of the military-industrial complex. For its part, Belarus is ready to share developments in agriculture, can expand the range of food supplies, participate in the design and construction of social and industrial facilities.
“You must tell us what we can and should do for the Samara Region. We are at your service. If necessary, and we can lend a hand somewhere, we are ready to do it,” Alexander Lukashenko concluded.
