Lamb Weston Expands Production Capacity with New Facility in the Netherlands

Innovative technologies and sustainability define Lamb Weston’s new production plant in Kruiningen, meeting growing global demand for frozen potato products.

Lamb Weston, a global leader in the frozen potato industry, has inaugurated a state-of-the-art production facility in Kruiningen, the Netherlands. The expansion underscores the company’s commitment to addressing the increasing global demand for high-quality frozen potato products while prioritizing sustainability and innovation.

A Significant Investment in Potato Processing

The new facility adds an impressive 195 million kilograms to Lamb Weston’s annual production capacity, further strengthening its position in the international market. This ambitious project, initiated over five years ago, reflects Lamb Weston’s long-term vision for sustainable growth. The Kruiningen site now houses two cutting-edge plants and employs approximately 650 people, including 120 new hires directly involved in the expanded operations.

Innovation and Sustainability at the Core

Lamb Weston’s new plant incorporates advanced technologies to enhance production efficiency and reduce environmental impact. Key features of the facility include:

  • Efficient use of raw materials: Processes are designed to minimize waste while maximizing the yield from each potato.
  • Water and heat reuse: Process water is purified and reused, while heat recovery systems optimize energy use and lower emissions.
  • Sustainable packaging solutions: The plant employs eco-friendly methods to align with global sustainability standards.

This integrated approach ensures that the facility not only meets current demands but also sets a benchmark for environmentally responsible production.

A Collaborative Effort

Lamb Weston’s success lies in its close collaboration with supply chain partners, including growers, logistics providers, and customers. By fostering these partnerships, the company ensures a consistent supply of premium potatoes while maintaining high standards of service and product quality.

Boosting Regional Employment

The new facility has had a positive impact on the regional economy. Lamb Weston’s presence in Kruiningen now supports approximately 650 jobs, reinforcing its role as a key employer in the area. The addition of 120 new roles highlights the company’s dedication to local communities and its contribution to regional growth.

Meeting Global Demand with Excellence

As the global appetite for frozen potato products continues to rise, Lamb Weston’s expanded capacity positions it to meet this demand effectively. By combining innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence, the company remains at the forefront of the frozen potato industry.
