KFC MASHIE RELAUNCHED AFTER ONLINE PRESSURE

The KFC Mashie is returning to Australian shores after almost a decade of online pressure from fans.

After eight years of fan requests including emails, phone calls, tweets and several petitions, KFC has relented and relaunched the classic potato balls — this time with a brand new twist, writes Australian press.

The new and improved “Gravy Mashies” are the same crusted mashed potato bites filled with a warm KFC gravy centre.

Australian KFCs are the first in the world to offer the Gravy Mashies, which went on sale in 600 Australian stores from October 2.

KFC marketing director Angela Richards said the mashies were trialed in Tasmania in 2015 and more than 130,000 were sold in less than two weeks.

“Our fans have spoken, and we had to listen,” Richards said. “There were thousands of comments on our social post with people outside of Tassie […] asking when they were going to get them. When you have fans that are this passionate, you have to give them what they want.”

Gravy Mashies are on sale for a limited time, with the last serving set to be auctioned on eBay on October 19 to raise funds for youth charity, the Reach Foundation. The auction winner will be flown to Sydney for a special visit to the KFC test kitchen.
