In the Mangistau region, authorities have fined a supermarket owner in Zhanaozen for violating pricing regulations on socially important food products. The Department of Trade and Consumer Protection initiated proceedings after analyzing data from electronic invoices provided by the tax authorities. The documentation revealed that the businessman was purchasing potatoes for 230 tenge but selling them for 275 tenge, applying a markup of 20%. This exceeds the maximum allowable trade markup of 15% established by law for essential goods, confirming a direct violation.
As a result of the inspection, the entrepreneur was found guilty under Part 1 of Article 204-4 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which addresses exceeding price limits on socially significant food items. The penalty imposed was a fine of 5 Monthly Calculation Indexes (MCI), totaling 21,625 tenge. Officials are reminding all business owners of the critical importance of strictly adhering to pricing laws, particularly concerning essential goods for the population.
