Advanced Features to Aid Farmers and Ranchers in Daily Operations
Olathe, Kansas – John Deere has unveiled its latest additions to the Gator utility vehicle lineup, the gas-powered Gator XUV 845 and diesel-powered Gator XUV 875. Designed with input from farmers across the U.S. and Canada, these new models aim to improve farm productivity with their enhanced cargo capacity, comfort, and versatility.
Engineered for the Farm
The Gator XUV 845 and Gator XUV 875 are tailored to meet the diverse needs of modern agriculture. Eric Halfman, John Deere’s go-to-market manager for Gator utility vehicles, emphasized the importance of farmer collaboration in the development process. “The Gator XUV 845 and Gator XUV 875 are built with farmers for farmers,” said Halfman. “We worked with farmers to make this machine more versatile for all the work they do on the farm.”
Enhanced Reliability and Comfort
Building on the reliability of previous models, the new Gators feature an improved exhaust system for a quieter ride. The air intake has been relocated 12 inches higher, drawing cleaner air to protect the engine. Additionally, the new CVT air intake and exhaust system enhance performance by reducing exposure to debris, water, and mud.
Versatility in Overdrive
One of the standout features of the new Gator models is the redesigned cargo box, which offers 13% more space than previous versions, making it a class leader in cargo capacity. The box includes several new features to increase functionality and ease of use:
- Increased Width: Enhances capacity and reduces mud sling.
- 12V SAE Power Port: Facilitates the use of small tank sprayers and rear-mounted spreaders.
- Divider Slots: Five on the sides and three at the front for secure storage and easy configuration changes.
- Second Level Storage: Keeps fence posts and wire separated for easier transport.
- Redesigned Tailgate: Features a flat work surface, ruler, v-groove for cutting pipe, anti-gravity pockets, bump stops, and cup holders.
- Integrated Clamping Points: Secure items in place efficiently.
- Fold Flat Tie-Downs: Located in the front-middle and four corners of the bed.
- Tie-Down Pockets: Provide dedicated places for straps.
- Stake Pockets: Work with stake pocket clamps to hold tools.
- Mountable Utility Rack Option: Expands storage and functionality.
“The cargo box is designed to be the extra hand we all need when we’re out in the field or pasture, trying to get things done,” said Halfman.
Precision Ag Ready
The new Gator models come with an HVAC option that can be customized to include a factory-installed GreenStar Ready package. This allows for quick addition of a StarFire receiver and universal display, making tasks such as boundary mapping more efficient. The JDLink modem integration enables seamless data transfer to the John Deere Operations Center, enhancing farm management.
A new bracket for integrated technology offers better control with less effort. The added switch bank includes controls for AutoTrac resume, ISO implement connector on/off, and display on/off, providing integrated control for various implements such as sprayers and displays.
“For customers adopting autonomy on their farms, including hay operations, creating autonomy boundaries is crucial,” noted Halfman. “The integrated precision ag technology features on the Gator XUV 845 and Gator XUV 875 make them essential machines for farmers.”
