Advanced methods of quality control of seed potatoes using thermal boxes have been implemented at modern production sites in Rilland of the Meijer Potato company. At the moment, the boxes are being filled with samples from French and Dutch batches from our seed potato suppliers. Meijer Potato prefers to take samples after graduation, as this provides the best quality indicator at later stages. Samples in the amount of 2 * 100 tubers per batch are stored in thermal boxes at high humidity and warm conditions for 4 weeks. Then the samples are extracted, analyzed and photographed. Together with data on growing and storage conditions, this allows Meijer Potato to select batches more carefully, minimize risks and ensure high quality seed potatoes for its customers. Their methodology, which includes innovative testing technologies, highlights the company’s commitment to providing farmers and partners with products with the highest quality standards. The introduction of thermal boxes is becoming a new stage in achieving this goal, setting a standard in the field of quality assurance of seed potatoes.
