The event brought together potato-growing farmers from the region, providing a platform to explore the diverse range of seeds developed and grown by Harinder Farms, while offering valuable insights into cutting-edge cultivation techniques.

Specializing in producing Early Generation Potato Seeds through Tissue Culture plants under protected cultivation, Harinder Farms has emerged as a trailblazer in adopting innovative agricultural practices. The event showcased an impressive array of India’s leading potato varieties like Pukhraj, Jyoti, Chandramukhi, and processing varieties like LR, accompanied by informative demonstrations of strip testing results. Attendees gained practical insights into the intricacies involved in successful potato cultivation, including various soil conditions, seeds, and machinery.

Punjab, being the top seed producer in India and among the leading states in overall potato production, has made significant contributions to the agricultural sector. In 2022, the region recorded a potato production of 30.5 lakh tonnes, following 29.49 lakh tonnes in 2021, while the production area encompassed approximately 1.07 lakh hectares. In 2020, Punjab achieved a potato production of 28.7 lakh tonnes across 1.06 lakh hectares of land, further solidifying its pivotal role in potato cultivation in India.

The seed show for potatoes organized by Harinder Farms served as a significant educational and networking opportunity for potato-growing farmers in the region. It enabled them to stay abreast of the latest advancements and best practices in potato cultivation, fostering a sense of community and contributing to the agricultural development and prosperity of the region.
