The spring sowing campaign in the region will end by June 10.
On Monday, May 23, Leonid Gromov, Minister of Agriculture of the Kaluga Region, made a report at a meeting of the regional government. He said that spring field work is being carried out on a total area of 155.2 hectares and should be completed by June 10.
According to him, 92 thousand hectares have been processed to date, which exceeds 70% of the plan. The plan for sowing spring grain crops was completed by 70%, vegetables by 45%, including potatoes by 56%.
This year, it is planned to increase the production of potatoes, oilseeds, and open-field vegetables by about a third, and rapeseed – almost twice. About 500,000 tons of fodder will be prepared in the region, that is, approximately 32 centners per head of livestock.
State support played a significant role in increasing production. Thus, farmers received 405 million rubles from the federal and regional budgets, as well as 1.5 billion rubles of soft loans.
