About 2% of retail stores in Kazakhstan sell socially important products with an inflated trade markup, the press service of the Ministry of Trade of Kazakhstan reported on August 5.
According to the agency, over the past week, about 40.3 thousand grocery stores were checked in Kazakhstan. At the same time, in 734 retail outlets, an overestimated trade allowance for food was revealed.
According to the agency, the largest number of violations were detected in Nur-Sultan and the East Kazakhstan region. Here, 278 and 80 violations were found, respectively.

The department recalled that the allowable size of the marginal trade markup for socially significant products “is no more than 15% of the selling price.” The ministry noted that the overstatement of the allowance entails administrative responsibility.
The Ministry of Trade recalled that Kazakhstan is a country with a market economy. At the same time, it is noted that in order to ensure fair pricing, the authorities of the republic have introduced control over retail prices for socially significant food products.
