In order to study the course of the sowing campaign, the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan Sharip Sharipov visited the Khasavyurt region. Accompanied by the deputy head of the district Nurula Murtazaliev, the head of the district agricultural department Idris Zagalov, the director of the Union of Gardeners of Dagestan Saidulla Orushanov, he got acquainted with the progress of spring field work in a number of farms of the municipality.
In particular, they got acquainted with the process of planting potatoes in the village of Kokrek, which has always been famous for its traditions of growing potatoes. As the head of the farm Gasan Magomedov said, this year he intends to plant ultra-early potatoes on 50 hectares, and another 40 hectares will be allocated for the cultivation of various vegetables. Appropriate preparation of planting and sowing material was carried out, the necessary volumes of organic fertilizers were introduced into the soil in advance. The farmer notes that he regularly studies novelties in the field of potato growing, often travels to the regions of our country, and studied the Belarusian experience. The farmer willingly shares the acquired knowledge with other Dagestan potato growers, people come to him for advice and consultations.
According to Deputy Head Nurula Murtazaliev, this farm is exemplary, it also provides agronomic support to personal subsidiary plots of his native and some neighboring villages. In general, in the Khasavyurt district, spring sowing will be carried out on an area of more than 33 thousand hectares. Of these, potatoes will amount to about 1600 hectares, mostly plantings are located in personal subsidiary plots of the population. Also on an area of about 3,000 hectares, they intend to sow vegetable crops.
Commenting on what he saw, Sharip Sharipov noted that the competitive advantage of Dagestan is early agricultural products. Today we are planting extra-early potatoes, which will be harvested in early May, at a time when many other regions are starting to enter the fields. Dagestan potatoes and other vegetable products will be supplied to the markets of our country by the beginning of summer. Thus, Dagestan is actively involved in solving the problems of import substitution even during the off-season, when we mainly receive potatoes from warm countries. The agricultural sector of Dagestan receives good support from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation. In particular, this year a federal project was launched to stimulate the development of vegetable and potato growing. It is also noteworthy that for the first time personal subsidiary farms are included in the orbit of state support. This is very important for Dagestan. As you can see, here many private household plots are planting potatoes, performing all agrotechnical operations no worse than in high-tech large farms in our country.
“Agrarians of Dagestan love the land, these days they go out into the fields with their family members to call on their native land. As we have seen today in the cases of citizens’ private farmsteads, state support within the framework of this federal project will be justified. In the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic, we put reliance on the widespread use of modern technologies at the head of agrarian policy so that our producers are competitive. Farmer Gasan Magomedov is one of the beacons to which they go for advice, which many other farmers look up to. We are determined to replicate the experience of such dedicated farmers among the farmers of Dagestan,” said Sharip Sharipov.
This year in Dagestan, the sowing campaign will be carried out on an area of 225 thousand hectares, of which almost 2500 hectares have already been sown, mainly perennial grasses, spring barley and vegetables. The preparation of equipment and seeds in the main areas for the distribution of spring crops is almost completed.
The Ministry, together with the district agricultural departments and the farmers themselves, has built a system for monitoring the progress of work, bottlenecks are identified at the first signal, and a prompt search for a solution is carried out.
“The well-coordinated arrangement of field work is also facilitated by the growing technical potential of agricultural enterprises. At the end of 2022, our farmers purchased agricultural equipment for 668 million rubles, which is 22% more than in 2021. This is also a real step to support local farmers. In the supply of equipment, an important place is occupied by cooperation with Rosagrolizg within the framework of the agreement concluded by the Head of the Republic of Dagestan with the management of this company. We expect to complete the sowing campaign in the optimal agrotechnical terms and fulfill our obligations to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture,” the First Deputy Minister said.
