We also created our side to show how healthy the potatoes are and how versatile they can be used despite their simplicity. We’re one of the biggest potato producers and wholesalers. Our company, progress agricultural Zrt. in the 1970s, it started as a production cooperative, and since its inception, our aim has been to grow and promote potatoes as efficiently as possible.
CONTROLLED, EXCELLENT, DOMESTIC QUALITY
For the promotion of potatoes and the protection of domestic potato production, together with other producers, the National Potato Association and Product Council was established in 1992. The land of our country, especially the flood areas, provides an excellent breeding ground for potatoes. Potatoes grown in Hungarian soil are particularly healthy and also give jobs to thousands of Hungarian people.
The year 1992 was a milestone, but since then our country has experienced a more serious potato plague, which has reduced production in several regions. However, thanks to the development of the production technology that we have encouraged, the country’s potato supply is ensured.
WE HAVE RENOVATED THE PACKAGING – WASHING MORE COMFORTABLE
We consider it an equally important breakthrough that our initiative was a success and that the potato alphabet was introduced. This categorization makes it clear, based on our recommendations, which types of potatoes we recommend for what primary consumption, so there are salad potatoes to bake and cook. You may not even notice the average buyer, but we also have more than sixty varieties in Hungary. However, usability is paramount, and we want to make that easier.
Our innovation is the sale of bagged, washed potatoes, which is partly replacing the distribution of net potatoes, as many homes no longer have a pantry or cellar where the potatoes can be stored in quantities. Our bags can be recycled after selective collection.
POTATOES ARE A HEALTHY FOOD
Potatoes are a fairly underrated plant, although they are considered the same staple food as milk or bread. It allows us to get a lot of carbohydrates and dietary fiber into our body, it is an excellent source of vitamins C, B1 and B6 and folic acid, as well as potassium, iron and magnesium. Gluten-free, nutritious and cheap – a real healthy staple food with a thousand faces.
