As part of the International Potato Tour (IPT), we met Krishna Pandit, founder of Fry and Bake, during Day 2 at the Expo. Fry and Bake is an Indian manufacturer of equipment for potato processing lines, covering a wide range of solutions for processors who produce potato chips, French fries, and potato flakes.
Built for processors — since 2012
Krishna explains that Fry and Bake started in 2012, and since then the company has focused on building and supplying equipment for potato processing. Over the years, Fry and Bake has delivered machines and solutions to multiple customers, including well-known names in the Indian market, and continues to grow its portfolio around complete processing lines.
For many processors, the key is not just a single machine, but an integrated line that helps them scale production with stable output quality. Krishna highlights that Fry and Bake works across different product categories—chips, fries, and flakes—which allows them to support diverse business models, from snack producers to larger processing facilities.
The “strength”: engineering and R&D that stays close to reality
When asked what makes Fry and Bake strong, Krishna points to the company’s research & development capabilities and an engineering approach that prioritizes understanding every detail of what they build.
A concrete example is the company’s recently developed hydro cutter. Krishna notes that the team worked on fluid dynamics simulation, and also built internal capacity to verify cut size and performance—so the equipment is not only manufactured, but engineered with clear control over results. In processing, this matters: consistent cutting supports stable downstream performance, from blanching and frying to final product uniformity.
Five-year plan: a bigger factory and a wider world
Looking forward, Fry and Bake is scaling up its foundation. Krishna shares that the company has established a new factory on five acres of land, and the broader ambition is to expand Fry and Bake into global markets.
He mentions that the company already supplies equipment beyond India, including African countries and deliveries for a U.S. company, and that the next step is to strengthen their presence internationally.
