Finalists announced for 2021 potato awards

FINALISTS have now been announced for the 2021 National Potato Industry Awards, which will be presented on the first night of BP2021 next week.

The innovations put forward for the 2021 particularly exceeded judges’ expectations and Juliet Loiselle, Publisher of Warners Group which organises the awards, said it was encouraging to see so many different types put forward, geared towards various different applications within the growth and supply of potatoes. 

“There was such a varied and interesting selection of entries in this category,” she said.

Innovation finalists include: BASF, Nufarm and Sharda Cropchem; BASF – BAS657; B-hive Innovations; Burgess Farm Produce and KisanHub; Corteva – Zorvec Endavia; i-Spud; Farm Electronics; Fera Science; NuCrop (Nufarm); ProAct – Plant Health Care; Restrain; Optigro Limited; UPL.

The finalists for the Agronomy Award include Graham Tomalin, John Sarup, Richard Johnson and Jeff Beever, while
Environmental Award finalists are AH Worth, ICL for Polysulphate and VAM WaterTech.

Grower of the Year Award finalists are: AR & SA White, Hugh Brunton, Jimmy Dagg, Matt Lyle, Matthew Steel, Mike Shapland and Tom Stevenson.

Machinery finalists are: Dewulf Enduro; Dubrelle Downs; GRIMME UK Ltd – CleanLoader; GRIMME UK Ltd – VARITRON 470; Izona – izona ipass; JCB – Fastrac 4000; Metos UK – LoRAIN; Restrain.

Marketing category of the Year finalists are Isle of Ely Produce/Chippy Chat and James Wrinch of East Suffolk Produce.
