The share of investments in biotechnology amounted to 5.6% of the total financing of the agricultural industry in the Russian Federation in 2021. This was stated by the director of the Center for the Development of Financial Technologies of Rosselkhozbank Elena Baturova at the session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
“If we now look with you at the map of all investments in agriculture for 2021, we will see that investments in biotechnology are only 5.6%. knowledge-intensive industries <…> A sufficiently long period to achieve a result, and this, among other things, scares off investments,” Baturova believes.
She also said that today there are about 400 startups in the field of agriculture in Russia. Of these, 50 have a product ready for implementation. Some of them are engaged in sustainable agriculture.
“We believe that from the point of view of the specifics of the industry, it is quite difficult to simply invest in these products, so our task is to make sure that such companies find interested people, find large enterprises that also work in agriculture in the Russian Federation and are ready to introduce these technologies,” – the director of the center for the development of financial technologies of Rosselkhozbank shared her opinion.
