Europatat, the European Potato Trade Association, has celebrated today in Brussels (Belgium) its annual General Assembly meeting. Europatat’s members have elected a new Board to lead the association for the coming year and welcome Vlastimil Rasocha as Vice-president.
The European potato community gathered again in Brussels (Belgium) in the context of the Europatat Congress 2024. During today’s meeting of the General Assembly, a new Board member has been elected, with Mr. Vlastimil Rasocha, representing the Czech Potato Association (CBS) and being appointed to replace outgoing Vice-President Mr. Domenico Citterio (Fruitimprese, Italy), who has successfully been part of Europatat’s Board for the last eight years. Mr. Tigran Richter (NORIKA, Germany) will continue as President of the Association, and Heero Gramsma (Luonnosta Holland) as Treasurer.
Europatat’s membership has also approved the association’s accounts and the main priorities for 2024 and 2025 based on the current Strategy 2022-2025. Whilst key topics such as trade, plant health and food safety remain at the core of Europatat’s priorities for the year to come, other dossiers such as sustainability reporting and measurement, nutrition or potato-related research are also gaining more and more importance in Europatat’s work. The Europatat’s 2023-2024 Activity Report, which provides an overview of the Association’s work since June 2023, has also been presented to the membership at today’s meeting of the GA. A digital version of the report is now publicly available on Europatat’s website.
Vlastimil Rasocha, Europatat’s new Vice-President, has thanked the Board members and the entire membership for their trust. Mr. Rasocha is the representative of Český bramborářský svaz, the Czech Potato Association, who has been member of Europatat for the past decades. Vlastimil is also Managing Director of the Czech family business Medipo Agras, active in importing and multiplication of seed potatoes, and trade and packaging of ware potatoes. Mr. Rasocha has also been a member of the Advisory Committee of Europatat since 2022 as chair of Europatat’s RUCIP Commission.
“I would like to thank the members of Europatat for their trust. I hope to build on the excellent work of Domenico Citterio. One of my goals will also be to raise public awareness about potatoes as a healthy food, which is grown according to the principles of sustainable agriculture in farming practices.”- Vlastimil Rasocha, new Europatat Vice-President
