The Chelyabinsk Center for Irradiation Technologies “Era” (NPO “Mayak”) is ready to irradiate fruit and berry crops without losses to the crop, but, on the contrary, to obtain mutant forms of plants with useful characteristics. “In 2018–19, we conducted scientific experiments, tried to process potatoes, which then lay in the vegetable store of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Chelyabinsk Region. The results were amazing – unprocessed potatoes deteriorated after six months. Aleksey Leonidovich [Teksler] also reported on this work to the leadership of the country. Our technology is absolutely safe, we have all the necessary licenses and permits. And we are ready to cooperate with the enterprises of the region,” said Rodion Yermolaev.
In addition to experimental work with agricultural products to obtain its mutant forms with economically valuable features, the company also works in other areas and areas. For example, the center is conducting scientific work with the Russian Ministry of Defense to study the possibility of a gamma-ray installation for disinfecting equipment and property of the ministry. Work is also underway to select sterilization modes for medical equipment and components.
