Belarusian farmers have planted potatoes on 81.3% of the planned areas. This was reported to BelTA at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
As of May 12, early spring cereals and legumes (with buckwheat and millet) were sown on 689 thousand hectares. In the Brest region, these crops are sown on 96.3% of the area, Grodno – on 95.8%, Minsk – on 95.2%, Mogilev – on 91.6%. Sowing has been completed in Vitebsk and Gomel regions.
In general, spring sowing in Belarus was carried out on an area of 1694.2 thousand hectares, which is 76.3% of the plan. 89.8% of the planned amount was sown in Brest region, 78.8% in Vitebsk region, 62.1% in Gomel region, 87.9% in Grodno region, 78.9% in Minsk region and 60% in Mogilev region.
The plan for sowing buckwheat was completed on an area of 5.44 thousand hectares, or 16.4% of the plan, and millet – on 1.89 thousand hectares, or 19.9%. Flax was sown on 41.7 thousand hectares, or 84.1%, sugar beet – on 91.4 thousand hectares, or 92.8%, annual grasses – on 144.3 thousand hectares, or 54.2%. Vegetable crops were planted on an area of 3.9 thousand hectares, which is 62.9% of the plan, potatoes were planted on 16.7 thousand hectares, which is 81.3% of the planned volume. Corn has been sown on an area of 637.7 thousand hectares, or 59.9% of the plan.
The soil for sowing spring crops was prepared on 1884.7 thousand hectares (84.8% of the plan). This year, these crops will be planted on an area of 2221.9 thousand hectares.
