The countries of Central Asia are showing increased interest in the international transport potential of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani leader said.
Ilham Aliyev and Kyrgyz Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobayev discussed the development of cooperation in the transport sector, agriculture and energy, the Azerbaijani leader’s press service reported.
Aliyev expressed hope that the meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on economic and humanitarian cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan, scheduled in Baku, would serve to further strengthen mutual economic activity.
He also noted the contribution of mutual high-level visits to the expansion of bilateral relations. The head of state recalled the discussion with his Kyrgyz counterpart during the latter’s visit to Baku in April of bilateral relations, issues of cooperation in international relations and investment.
Aliyev pointed out the diversified transport infrastructure created in the country. He also noted the interest of a number of countries, including the Central Asian region, showing interest in the international transport potential of the Republic of Azerbaijan. At the same time, the President emphasized the importance of implementing plans to create new railway networks in the Central Asian region, leading to the Caspian Sea basin.
In turn, Torobaev pointed to the level of strategic partnership in the Azerbaijani-Kyrgyz relations.
The parties also noted the importance of cooperation in the humanitarian and educational fields, discussed cooperation in the areas of agriculture, energy, and investment.
