Georgian farmers purchased fertilizers, seedlings and agricultural tools worth about 35.8 million lari within the framework of the state program “Support for Agricultural Land Owners”, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia reports.
The program began operating on May 10 of this year and provided for the issuance of special agricultural cards, on which agricultural points were accrued, to farmers who legally own registered land plots ranging from 0.25 to 1.25 hectares, at the rate of 300 lari per 1 hectare.
On them, farmers could purchase fertilizers and plant protection products, seeds or seedlings, agricultural tools, and so on in more than 500 specialized stores throughout Georgia.
The term for using agropoints for the purchase of agricultural goods by farmers under the state program expired on November 30. After this period, the accrued points were canceled.
In total, more than 300,000 small landowners could use the state program.
